Pharma West Africa 2008: Nigeria beckons again
• Exhibition holds in June

Come June 3rd – 5th, 2008 , Nigeria ’s Pharmaceutical Sector will once again attract the attention of the world, as Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Drug Producing Companies, Pharmaceutical Products Equipment manufacturers and related services converge in Abuja , the nation’s capital for the 1st edition of a proposed annual pharmaceutical event – “Pharma West Africa 2008”.

At this maiden event for the Pharmaceutical sector, CEO’s engineers, Scientist, Pharmacists, R & D Professionals, Biotechnology Specialists, Doctors and other Stakeholders in the Pharmaceutical Sub-sector of Nigeria’s health sector, will see in “Pharma West Africa 2008 Expo”, an opportunity to among other things, network with a cross section of professional in the industry.

The event slated for Abuja International Conference Centre, Abuja , promises to provide a forum for exhibitors to broaden their customer awareness and make valuable business contacts with prospective buyers of pharmaceutical products such as Laboratory equipment, Pharmacists pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers.

According to Dr. Wale Alabi, CEO of the organizing outfit – Global Resources & Projects (Nig) Ltd, Pharma West Africa will also feature the inaugural edition of Nigeria ’s Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Day, with President Umaru Musa Yar Adua as Special Guest of Honour. It will also enable exhibitors to launch new products in a forum comprising of potential buyers drawn from all the West African Sub-region and even beyond.

According to IMS forecast on ethical pharmaceutical products, Nigeria , though rated behind South Africa , and Morocco , has huge potentials, with the business worth over $1.5 billion, servicing over 150 million Nigerian and other West African countries.

The sector has undergone significant evolutions from the dark ages of concoctions infused from a cocktail of leaves, barks, fruits, roots and stems of plants to small tablets made through chemical synthesis.

When over 5000 converge to participate or exhibit at this year’s Pharma West Africa 2008 International Pharmaceutical Exhibition and Conference organized by Global Resources and Projects (Nig) Ltd., in fall, professional collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), PMGMAN, WAPPA, ECOWAS, NAFDAC and the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria, they will be welcomed by nothing but the best on the Nigeria and West African Pharmaceutical Sector.

Already favorable commendations have trailed the forth coming exhibition, which have impacted positively on the proposed 2008 re-enactment speaking on the benefits to be derived from the event, four reputable pharmaceutical sector personalities – Pharm Kunle Okelola, The Executive Secretary of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMG-MAN) said his association has given Pharma West Africa her full endorsement. They are actually staging the 1st Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Day during the event; this will be an annual event by PMGMAN.

Others who have given very favorable assessment of the event include a very senior official in the Pharmaceutical department of the Federal Ministry of Health, who said her office and ministry “will always be part of the event …which is a key event on West Africa ’s Health Calendar”.
